Data collected in a survey amongst 4600 climbers and aspirant climbers, show that climbing reduces acrophobia, also known as ‘fear of heights’. The climbers were asked to rate their fear of heights on a scale of 1 to 5.
Rocky Mountain National Park Opening
In accordance with guidance from the White House, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), state and local public health authorities, Rocky Mountain National Park plans to increase recreational access and services on May 27. Rocky Mountain National Park continues to work with the State of Colorado to follow the “Safer at Home” guidance as well as with county and local officials as these changes are implemented. Rocky Mountain National Park is located in Larimer, Grand and Boulder counties.
ESTABLISHING A MULTI-PITCH ROUTE IN THE HEART OF MADAGASCAR
In August 2015, Siebe Vanhee and Sean Villanueva took off on an adventure to the Tsaranoro Massif on the island-country of Madagascar, located off the southeast coast of Africa. Once there, they spotted a major unclimbed line on Tsaranoro Atsimo. Armed with a drill, skyhooks, and thirst for exploration they tackled the face ground up. RMNP Update
In accordance with guidance from the White House, CDC, state and local public health authorities, the Department of the Interior and the National Park Service are working to gradually resume operations and access to national parks in a safe manner. The National Park Service will continue to work with state and local officials as these changes are implemented.

By now, most of us are isolated at home due to the coronavirus pandemic. Rock gyms are closed, national and state parks closed, and restrictions on non-essential travel in place. Not to mention the whole social-distancing thing, which doesn't work well when we flood the local crags. Training at home is the new norm, for now. Bummed that Estes Park & Rocky Mountain National Park are closed? Google Earth is offering virtual tours of some of the world's most incredible national parks, including RMNP, to provide an escape for people during social distancing.
Estes Park News: Short Term Accommodations Closed Through April 17th
Larimer County, CO --- Larimer County Department of Health and Environment and the Town of Estes Park have issued public health orders limiting visitors to Estes Park by closing short-term accommodations within the Estes Valley to help slow the spread of COVID-19. The orders were issued March 21 and take effect March 23 at 12 p.m. With the same goal in mind, many accommodations throughout the Estes Valley have already voluntarily closed, a commendable step.
