We start our morning off with first tram ride, skipping the line. This five minute ride gains 1,100′ to the top of Prospect Mountain. A short walk past the well fed chipmunks of Prospect takes us to an exclusive rock climbing area looking directly into the Rocky Mountain National Park!
The Estes Park Aerial Tramway was designed and built by Robert Heron whom was involved with tramway operations during World War Two. The 10th Mountain Division contracted the engineering company Mr. Heron worked for to design a portable tramway for use in Italy and Germany.
The Estes Park Aerial Tramway opened to the public in July, 1955 and since then, has safely carried more than 3 million people to the summit of Prospect Mountain.

This is the Estes Park climbing experience we’d like to share with you. From first timers, to those transitioning from the gym to outside, to experienced climbers looking for a project, this trip has it all! A short hike takes us far away from the hustle and bustle of the busy one-lane Estes Park streets, to a secluded crag on western side of Prospect Mountain overlooking the Estes Valley and Continental Divide. Enjoy sweeping vistas from Longs Peak to the famous Lumpy Ridge, this spectacular setting is where we set up our provisions for the day.
